Should we serve our meal Sit Down or Buffet?

 In blog

Situation
Mary and John could not decide whether to have a sit down plated meal or a buffet. Both meals had their advantages. The sit down meal insured that each guest would be served equally in a timely manner. The Buffet gave the guests the advantage of choice in their selections as well as their quantities.

Solution
SO…
Consider serving your guests a sit down meal with either a dual entrée (two different selections on one plate) plus a mixed grill (three different selections on one plate) or have an entrée selection on the response card.
Each guest can make a choice on the response card.

Unfortunately, these choices can also interrupt the timing of the event as well as adding cost to the meal. When serving a buffet selection, guests can portion their own meals, often over indulging. The greater, uncontrolled quantity of food can lead to a greater cost to the host.

Please be aware that when you offer selections to your guests, it is the host’s responsibility to provide the caterers with the appropriate meal for each guest and where they will be seated. Place cards and a list of the guests are a must when there is an entrée choice.
